Context

Kia carried out a series of global CSR initiatives across Africa, focusing on sustainable development through education, healthcare, and local empowerment. Our production team was brought on to execute on-location capture and post-production, translating field-level realities into high-quality branded content that aligned with Kia’s global communication standards.
- Mozambique: Kia collaborated with NGOs to improve education and healthcare access in rural communities.
- Tanzania: Kia developed a system-based model integrating agricultural training with education support for local families.
- Ethiopia: Kia activated a volunteer-led infrastructure support program to enhance local school environments.

Challenge

We were tasked with capturing authentic, unscripted moments in field conditions with minimal infrastructure while maintaining visual control, narrative cohesion, and alignment with brand aesthetics. Each location presented distinct production constraints and editorial demands.
- Mozambique: We needed to operate under extreme environmental conditions while achieving stable image capture and maintaining narrative clarity.
- Tanzania: We had to visualize a multi-step economic development process in a way that felt intuitive and engaging, avoiding heavy-handed or overly emotional tones.
- Ethiopia: We were required to structure volunteer-driven, non-scripted content into a coherent branded narrative without staging or disrupting live interactions.

Solution

We deployed embedded camera crews with lightweight, field-optimized gear and adopted a documentary-style capture strategy focused on observational coverage and ambient detail. Our post-production team constructed clean, brand-compliant deliverables through careful editorial architecture, cinematic color grading, and restrained sound design.
- Mozambique: We captured real-time interactions using natural light and handheld setups, ensuring visual consistency through careful exposure control and minimal crew footprint.
- Tanzania: We structured the story around the full lifecycle—from agricultural training to educational outcomes—using process-driven sequencing and data-informed visual cues.
- Ethiopia: We embedded within the volunteer team to access candid interactions, and in post, we condensed five days of coverage into a human-centered narrative that balanced realism with brand tone.

From the Team

"We built a near-final storyboard up front, knowing we couldn't control everything on-site. That early clarity led to tighter alignment with the client—proof that in projects like this, communication strategy is as important as production."
