Context

HPM stands for High-speed Power Matching, Doosan Mottrol’s electro-hydraulic control system in which high-response solenoid valves read what the machine is asking for and match pump output to it in real time. If the brand film set out the company’s overall direction, this film had to explain one of the individual technologies that direction rests on. It was produced for global exhibitions where it would be shown directly to buyers, and had to be delivered in Korean, English, and Chinese.

Challenge

HPM works inside the machine. There is nothing for a camera to point at, and its value surfaces only as flow, pressure, and power curves. On top of that, six control loops run at the same time. Listing them one after another makes the explanation long; showing them all at once makes it impossible to tell what is happening. We also had to account for an exhibition floor, where most visitors pass by without sound. The film had to land in under two minutes, without audio, and in all three languages.

Solution

The film was built entirely in 3D. It opens with an X-ray excavator that reveals where the HPM components actually sit, then the camera moves inside the machine and follows the six loops (flow rate control, pressure control, power control, pump pressure cut-off, electronic minimum displacement control, and pump dynamics) as they resolve one work cycle. By anchoring the film to a single cycle of digging, dump and swing, and return, the six loops are shown working together inside one motion rather than listed in sequence. A split-screen sequence then runs that same cycle against the conventional system, with the power-efficiency map and fuel consumption graphs carrying the result of 40% more operational capacity and 33% less energy loss. Subtitles and UI graphics were built as separate language layers so that the Korean, English, and Chinese versions share one master edit.
